Chapter 399

Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 399

Compared to those who had lost their lives, the simple fact that they had a second chance at love was incredibly rare and precious.

At the very least, they wouldn’t spend the rest of their lives suffocating in the regret of missing out on each other.

Bonnie squeezed him tighter, making a silent promise to herself: Wait for him to get back, and then say yes.

Her heart had long since surrendered, won over by every passing second and every tiny, devoted thing he had done for her.

…

As Highvale’s temperatures plunged lower every day, more architects arrived to join the reconstruction task force, finally easing the crushing pressure on Bonnie and the original team.

One morning, Bonnie woke up, went through her usual routine of washing up and eating breakfast, and then took a pen to circle a date on her desk calendar.

Today was the 6th. December 8th—her birthday—was just two days away.

It had been over half a month since Lawrence left.

He was currently in Ostrovia attending a high-profile summit, half a country away. Through the spotty, gradually recovering cell service, he had managed to send her a news article.

It featured a photo of him standing at a podium, delivering a keynote address on behalf of the Magnolia Group.

The signal was atrocious. Bonnie had to tap the image half a dozen times before it finally loaded enough to save to her camera roll.

Their nightly calls were a mess of static and dropped connections; half the time they couldn’t even hear what the other was saying. But they had adjusted, and the poor conditions never dampened their spirits.

He had promised he would make it back in time for her birthday.

Bonnie didn’t normally care about her birthday, but she found herself eagerly counting down the days to the 8th.

She had just finished sketching a little star next to the date when Yvonne called out from outside.

“Bonnie, get in the truck!”

Today, the task force was heading out to inspect one of the final remaining construction sites. The local authorities wanted to build a new school there and sync the groundbreaking with the March timeline.

However, the site had some geological complications that required an in-person survey.

She lifted her phone, awkwardly shifting angles to catch a signal, and eventually, the text pushed through.

Lawrence: [Almost in Highvale. Did you miss me, Candie?]

Bonnie mentally scoffed at his sheer arrogance. He clearly knew he had her in the bag, because he was getting bolder and more shameless by the day.

The way he talked and acted was reverting right back to his reckless, smooth-talking twenty-year-old self.

But a brilliant thrill shot through her nonetheless. She hadn’t expected him to show up unannounced, two days early.

It was just a shame she was stuck out on a site visit and couldn’t see him immediately.

[Stop being so full of yourself.]

[I’m at a site. Wait for me to get back.]

The two texts refused to send. Bonnie was just about to shift closer to the window to find a better signal when the entire vehicle violently lurched.

["post-1067","chapter","type-chapter","status-publish","hentry
["GET
