“Elena!” Jeremy reached out and grabbed her in a panic, with trepidation in his eyes, “If I say …”<\/p>\n
“Let go of me!” She shook off his hand, but he was too strong to break free.<\/p>\n
“Elena, why do you have to be like this? We can start over. I don’t want you to hate Emma. She just loves me too much.”<\/p>\n
Elena was disgusted and her voice became cold, “I know you love each other, but there is no need to remind me over and over again. This doesn’t justify anything, let alone making me forgive you!”<\/p>\n
“What are you doing!” Mason’s huffy voice came. He stared at Jeremy as he pulled her.<\/p>\n
Jeremy let her go at once. His mind was turbulent. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, and he couldn’t bear Elena’s indifference towards him.<\/p>\n
“Elena, you’re married to Logan, and now what are you doing?”<\/p>\n
Elena was hurt by Mason\u2019s question. It was Jeremy who was pulling her, but her dear father asked her what she was doing instead of protecting her.<\/p>\n
What did he think she was doing? Did he think that she abandoned Jeremy and got Logan, then finally tried to get back together with Jeremy?<\/p>\n
“Tell me!” he asked again.<\/p>\n
“There’s nothing to say. You once said you only believed what you saw with you own eyes. Then what you saw is the fact.”<\/p>\n
She was not afraid of his warning and sneered ironically.<\/p>\n
Jeremy felt guilty and explained “Uncle, I just met Elena coincidentally and asked a few questions.”<\/p>\n
“I’m sure you and my dad have a lot to say. I just recalled Logan said he wanted me to peel apples for him. So I need to leave now!” Elena spoke and left without any hesitation.<\/p>\n
In the living room, Logan sat in his wheelchair with a laptop on his lap. His slender fingers were tapping on the keyboard. Right now he was focused on his work.<\/p>\n
See him, Elena felt relaxed and smiled, “Logan.”<\/p>\n
His stopped working and closed his computer, “What did Mr. Bush say?”<\/p>\n
Elena raised her wrist and showed the silver bracelet, “He gave me this.”<\/p>\n
Logan nodded and asked her to come closer. Elena couldn’t understand why but still walked over to him. He pulled her in his arms and asked her to sit on his lap.<\/p>\n
“No!” She immediately got up, afraid she’d make him hurt.<\/p>\n
Logan frowned, and insistently pressed her on his lap. Elena didn\u2019t refuse but tried to keep her feet on tiptoe to reduce her weight on him.<\/p>\n
He looked at her carefully and asked, “Apart from the bracelet, what else happened?”<\/p>\n
“I …” Elena peeked at him and couldn’t help inferring she did a terrible job at hiding her emotions. She answered, “I’m fine.”<\/p>\n
“Tell the truth!”<\/p>\n
She felt his hand on her waist.<\/p>\n
“Nothing new. You know, just as usual.” she smiled bitterly.<\/p>\n
Logan hugged her tightly. She could feel the warmth of his body. Suddenly she didn\u2019t feel that lonely and helpless. She felt like at home now.<\/p>\n
“I’m sorry.” she lowered her head and said.<\/p>\n
“Why?”<\/p>\n
Emma shook his hand off, and her face was full of suspicion, “Then why are you protecting her? Jeremy, do you even love me?”<\/p>\n
A farce was about to start and Elena didn’t want to get involved in it. She had enough of it and didn’t want to stay here for another second. So she stood up and said, “Dad, we need to go back now.”<\/p>\n
“Wait. You should explain yourself to me first!” Emma looked at her, thinking she was guilty and wanted to run away.<\/p>\n
Jeremy came up and stopped her, “Emma!”<\/p>\n
Emma was out of control and easily broke free of his grip. She came straight to Elena and wanted to slap her. But before she could touch Elena, a strong hand had stopped her movement.<\/p>\n
Logan said with a icy voice, “I warn you, don’t touch her!”<\/p>\n
“Ah! Dad!” Emma took a few steps back with a frightened squeal. She was scared of Logan\u2019s tone.<\/p>\n
Mason looked at Logan, not daring to speak at all, just standing by the side.<\/p>\n
“Mr. Bush, I came back with Elena because I respect you as her father. But if you treat her unfairly or allow others to bully her, then you have crossed my line.”<\/p>\n
Mason listened to Logan quietly. He knew he still needed the Brown family to help him with his company. Therefore, he didn\u2019t dare to offend him.<\/p>\n
When Emma saw them leaving, she couldn\u2019t hide her anger and shouted crazily, “Dad! Elena is bullying us, why don’t you do something?”<\/p>\n
“Emma, don’t be childish.” Jeremy said.<\/p>\n
Emma turned back and looked at him. She was getting even angrier, “Why are you being so useless! I was trying to help you with your company. But I didn’t expect you were a loser!”<\/p>\n
