But in her blind panic, she stumbled over her own feet and collapsed right in front of him and the woman!<\/p>\n

Startled, the woman threw her arms tightly around Logan’s waist.<\/p>\n
Logan instantly shielded her, looking down at the woman sprawled on the floor\u2014<\/p>\n

Those expressive eyes, which were always filled with a cynical, teasing warmth, were now ice-cold and heavily guarded. He questioned her as if looking at an intruder he had never met in his life.<\/p>\n
The blood in Stella’s veins ran cold.<\/p>\n
How could Logan look at her with those eyes?<\/p>\n
They had grown up together, living in the exact same neighborhood!<\/p>\n
Because of her, Logan had given up the chance to go abroad, choosing to repeat his senior year of high school just to stay near her.<\/p>\n
They went to the same college, leaning on each other to face the world.<\/p>\n

“A little,” the woman replied softly, leaning heavily against his side. “Logan, let’s just go.”<\/p>\n
“Alright.”<\/p>\n
Logan wrapped his arm around the woman and walked away, never casting another glance at Stella.<\/p>\n
Stella remained frozen on the floor in her collapsed posture.<\/p>\n
Her phone seemed to be buzzing frantically in her pocket, but she couldn’t hear a thing.<\/p>\n
