Jarrod wasn’t in riding gear. He wore a crisp, tailored casual outfit that made him look effortlessly commanding. Even standing next to a bright, energetic teenager like Jasper, he didn’t look the least bit dull.<\/p>\n
“Stunned?” Jarrod asked.<\/p>\n
Catching the teasing lilt in his voice, Stella quickly averted her gaze and said softly, “Mr. Fuller, I’ll take Jasper home now.”<\/p>\n
“Mhm.” Jarrod pointed a finger at Jasper. “If he acts up again, call me.”<\/p>\n
“Don’t worry, Jarrod, I’m an angel.”<\/p>\n
Jasper grabbed Stella’s arm and dragged her away, terrified that if they stayed a second longer, Jarrod would find a reason to lecture him again.<\/p>\n
It wasn’t until they were completely out of Jarrod’s sight that Jasper finally exhaled. “Holy crap, I almost died. Thank god you showed up when you did, Stella, or he definitely would’ve ended me!”<\/p>\n
“Seriously, how terrible is my luck? I sneak out to have a little fun, and I bump into him talking business here?”<\/p>\n
Jasper groaned. “And my mom needs to chill out!”<\/p>\n
Stella conveniently ignored the phrase ‘talking business’. She replied gently, “Look at it from another angle. Having a family that cares so much about your safety is a blessing.”<\/p>\n
After her mother passed, she didn’t really have a family anymore. Her father only cared about Sylvia and Seraphina. Her own brother was solely focused on his academics.<\/p>\n
