Chapter 186

He Never Noticed Me Until I Loved Someone Else novel Chapter 186

Exhausted, Stella took a quick shower and immediately crashed into bed.

She didn’t know how long she had been asleep when a loud stumbling noise outside her door jolted her awake.

Startled, she opened the door, only to find Jarrod leaning heavily against the doorframe.

His suit jacket was draped over his arm, his collar was unbuttoned, the corners of his eyes were flushed red, and every breath he took reeked of alcohol.

“Jarrod, why are you—”

Before she could finish, he reached out and pulled her into a tight embrace.

“Stella, you don’t even want to see my face anymore?”

His grip was bruising, his cheek pressed firmly against her ear. His voice was raw, low, and laced with a vulnerability she had never heard from him before… Was he pouting?

Smelling the heavy stench of alcohol, Stella knew he was thoroughly wasted. He would never speak to her in this tone otherwise.

There was no reasoning with a drunk man.

He had taken care of her when she had a fever from the rain, and again on St. Jude’s Island. Out of basic decency, she couldn’t just leave him like this.

She patted his shoulder and said softly, “Jarrod, you’re drunk. Let me help you to bed.”

He refused to let go, his scorching breath hitting the side of her neck. He grumbled, “Stop calling me by my name. Call me husband.”

“…” Stella was speechless.

With a mix of coaxing and gentle pushing, she finally managed to guide him to the edge of the bed.

After getting him to lie down, she was about to go downstairs and ask Mrs. Whitby to make a hangover remedy, but Jarrod suddenly grabbed her wrist.

He stared at her, his eyes rimmed with a drunken flush. “Stella, is Logan really that great? Even with other women around him, you’re still thinking about him?”

["post-3474","chapter","type-chapter","status-publish","hentry
["GET
