Chapter 121

Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 121

Another thick silence settled between them.

Bonnie couldn’t make him leave, and honestly, she was too exhausted to waste another word on Lawrence. She finished her dinner, took her meds, then got ready for bed and tried to sleep.

Right before lying down, she glanced at Lawrence—completely calm. He got the message and muttered, “I’ll go after I wash the dishes.”

She didn’t even bother arguing anymore. Lying down was the only thing that felt remotely comfortable, but because of the stunt Lawrence pulled earlier that day—sneaking into her bed and holding her—she couldn’t fully relax. She stayed tense, always halfway awake.

From the bedroom, she could hear him moving around in the kitchen. Lawrence worked fast. He washed the dishes, wiped down the table, took out the trash, and even mopped the floor.

A little later, water started running in the bathroom.

Lawrence came to her bedside carrying a basin of steaming water. He looked at her face first, careful, noticing her eyes were shut like she was asleep. Quietly, he tried to lift her leg.

Bonnie drew in a sharp breath, opened her eyes, and kicked him away. He wasn’t prepared and landed right on the floor, lips pressed in a tight line. “I just wanted to soak your feet,” he said softly, not quite looking at her. “They’re really cold.”

“Get out.” Bonnie forced out each word, slow and clear.

Lawrence got up with obvious reluctance. Even as he backed away, he tried one more time. “Then you should soak them yourself… It’ll help you sleep better. The doctor’s coming early tomorrow to give you an IV. I’ll bring breakfast…”

“Out.”

He opened his mouth to say more, but nothing came out. He just left and closed the door behind him.

Bonnie never touched the water he brought. Whatever scraps of energy she had left were gone. She just curled up and finally let herself fall asleep.

The next morning, when the doctor arrived, Bonnie was already up. She’d made herself a simple breakfast.

Lawrence tried to slip in after the doctor, only to find out she’d already eaten. All he could do was leave the tray of food he’d brought on the kitchen counter and follow the doctor in to check on her.

She hesitated, then added, “Honestly, it hasn’t been this bad for a long time.”

Lawrence felt a stab of guilt. He knew it was his arrival that had pushed Bonnie into this state, inside and out.

The doctor glanced at the test results. “There’s fluid in both ears. Your left ear’s seen some damage before—perforated eardrum and the auditory nerve isn’t as sharp. If things get worse, you should really go to the hospital for a full exam. A minor procedure might be best.”

Bonnie paused, hand still at her ear, then gave a soft, “Okay.”

Once the doctor packed up and left, Lawrence knelt in front of Bonnie again, his tone almost desperate. “Candie, let’s go and get your ears checked out, please?”

Bonnie looked down at the floor. “Okay.”

A flicker of hope lit up in Lawrence, but just as quickly, it faded.

["post-789","chapter","type-chapter","status-publish","hentry
["GET
